Catalogue ONIX Backups
Admin → Backups keeps a daily ONIX XML snapshot of every book on this OnixFeed - every publisher you can see as a hub admin, including draft and published titles.
You need the admin scope. Publisher users do not see this page.
This is the install-wide safety copy. It is not the same as Export catalogue on Books (one publisher, or the rows you selected) and not the OnixFeed CSV zip.
What you get
- One ONIX message for the whole catalogue
- A dated file you can download from the list
- Files older than 30 days are removed
Download a file when you need a copy off the server.
Daily job
A scheduled job writes a backup each day at 03:00 SAST. If the list is empty, the job has not run yet - use Run backup now, or ask your systems administrator to confirm scheduled exports.
Older dated XML is cleaned up on that same pass. CSV exports are not touched.
Run a backup now
- Open Admin → Backups.
- Click Run backup now.
- Wait for the notice (filename and book count).
- Click Download on the new row.
Use this before a large import, a publisher merge, or any change you might need to roll back.
Restore from a backup
There is no one-click restore. You import the XML.
- Download the dated file you want.
- Open Books → Import ONIX and drop that file.
- For a hub-wide file, set import mode to Hub - resolve from ONIX so titles return to the imprint in the XML. Into one publisher would attach every title to a single imprint.
- Use Full import only if you mean to replace matching books. Sectioned update writes only the sections you tick; it does not replace the whole record. See the import warning.
Titles that are not in the file are not deleted.
You can also drop the file in the XML Viewer to browse it first. The viewer does not write to the catalogue.
