Contributors and Authors in OnixFeed
People live in two places. The Contributors list is the shared person record. The book Contributors tab links that person to a title and sets their role (author, illustrator, translator, and so on).
Contributors list
Open Contributors in the sidebar.
- Search by name.
- Stats show totals for authors, illustrators, editors, translators, and records with images, email, or website.
- Export CSV / Import CSV for bulk person data.
- Use + to Add contributor (a publisher must be selected).
- Use the publisher switcher if you are assigned more than one imprint.
Most names already exist after a catalogue import. Day-one work is usually spelling, biographies, and photos for people who matter - not recreating everyone.
Editing a contributor
Open a person to fix the name, add a biography or photo, or update identifiers and contact details. Save the record before you link them to more titles.
Transfer (merge duplicates)
Imports sometimes create the same person twice (spelling or name order).
- Decide which contributor record to keep.
- On the duplicate row, open Transfer books.
- Choose Transfer to contributor (search by name).
- Click Transfer books.
Or ask your administrator to merge them. Prefer one record per person before you attach them to many new titles.
Linking contributors on a book
- Open the book → Contributors tab.
- Add an existing contributor from the list when you can (avoids duplicates).
- Set the role for that title.
- Save the book.
Contributor roles use ONIX codes. See ONIX reference.
Import and export
- Export CSV downloads the current contributor list.
- Import CSV loads person records. For book metadata in bulk, prefer ONIX import.
