Book Validation in OnixFeed

OnixFeed can check a saved book against ONIX structure, South African trade metadata guidelines, and the fields a WooCommerce export needs. Use Validate in the book editor after you save.

How to run a check

  1. Open the book and save any edits (Save Changes).
  2. Click Validate. The Catalogue validation modal opens.
  3. Run each check with its own button. Checks use your last saved data - save again before you re-check.
CheckButtonWhat it tells you
ONIX Schema ValidityCheck schemaWhether partners can open an ONIX export of this record (structure is sound)
PASA Metadata GuidelinesCheck PASA readinessHow the record lines up with the PASA Product Metadata Guidelines (November 2024)
WooCommerce ReadinessCheck store readinessWhether fields needed for a WooCommerce / store export are present (title, ISBN, cover, description, price, availability, and related store fields)

Each panel shows what is present, what is suggested, and what needs attention, with plain-language tips.

If you have not saved the book yet, the panel says Save the book to enable this check.

PASA is a readiness report

The PASA check is an OnixFeed readiness report. It is not official PASA certification. Use it to improve metadata before trading partners or a shop see incomplete records.

Outbound feeds can also Auto Validate generated XML. That is a feed-level check. Book Validate is the place to fix one title. See ONIX Feeds.

Suggested order

  1. Fix title, ISBN-13, cover, description, contributors, and Supply (price and availability for the market you trade).
  2. Run Check PASA readiness and clear “needs attention” items on priority titles.
  3. Run Check store readiness before you expect the title to look complete in a WooCommerce export.

You do not have to pass every advisory on day one. Start with titles that matter most for the shop or for partners.
