Managing Books in OnixFeed
Books is the catalogue. Search and filter the list, open a title to edit metadata, then save and validate before you send the record to partners or a shop.
Viewing your catalogue
Open Books in the sidebar.
- Search with Search books... (title or ISBN).
- Switch Grid and Table.
- Use Filters: language, publisher, format, status (Draft / Published), custom subjects (including Uncategorised). Administrators may also filter by store collection.
- Sort by title, dates, language, publisher, format, status, or ISBN-13 (hidden when grouping is on).
- Show 20, 100, 250, or all rows.
- Group by Related Products (variants) to cluster language or format variants of the same work.
- Clear Filters resets the list.
You only see titles for your assigned publishers. If a book is missing, check the publisher switcher.
Adding a book
- Click Add Book.
- Enter at least a title and ISBN-13, and confirm the publisher.
- Add cover, language, description, and Supply when you can.
- Save, then click Validate if the title will go to a shop or an ONIX feed.
For many new titles at once, prefer an ONIX import or ask your administrator to load a spreadsheet.
Editing a book
Click a book to open Edit Book.
Header actions:
- Export PDF - single-title flyer (see PDF catalogs)
- Preview XML - ONIX preview
- Validate - catalogue validation
- Publish App Status / Unpublish App Status
- Add Content - add ONIX text content
Footer: Save Changes, Save & Continue, Cancel.
Book tabs
| Tab | What you edit |
|---|---|
| Book Details | Title, ISBN, format, language, cover, publishing dates, and core identifiers |
| Content | Descriptions, blurbs, and other text on this title |
| Audience | Who the book is for |
| Subjects | Thema and other subject schemes |
| Related | Related products and works |
| Contributors | Link people and set their role on this title |
| Collateral | Supporting resources such as covers and extra images |
| Supply | Price, currency, and availability per market |
Supply is the place for price and availability - not a single global price field. Markets include South Africa (ZA), United Kingdom (GB), and United States (US). Open Supply, check the market you trade, then save.
What to prioritise for shops and partners:
- Title and subtitle spelling
- ISBN-13
- Cover image
- Description / blurb
- Language
- Format (paperback, hardback, ebook, and so on)
- Price and availability on Supply
- Authors and other contributors
- Subject / category information where you have it
Import ONIX
On the Books page, Import ONIX opens the import modal. Use ONIX XML for self-serve bulk updates. See Import & Export.
Bulk actions
Select one or more books, choose an action, then Apply Action.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Delete Selected | Removes the selected books |
| Export Selected | Opens Export catalogue for those titles (ONIX XML or spreadsheets) |
| Publish Selected / Unpublish Selected | Sets app publish status |
| Fetch Cover Images | Tries to retrieve covers |
| Manage Related Works / Manage Related Products | Variant and related-product links |
| Add to Store Collection | Adds titles to a Woo collection (admin) |
| Add to ONIX Feed | Assigns titles to an outbound feed |
| Manage Custom Subjects | Publisher subject tags |
| Assign Rights Profile | Applies a rights profile |
Add to Store Collection needs admin. The other actions need the usual catalogue scopes.
Export catalogue
The Books header Export and bulk Export Selected both open Export catalogue.
- Choose the publisher if you have more than one.
- ONIX XML - a product message for partners and feeds.
- Spreadsheets - tick the CSVs you need, or All spreadsheets for the full pack (book sheet plus extras and stock). One file downloads as a CSV; more than one downloads as a zip named with the publisher and the time. Column names: OnixFeed CSV standard.
Header Export (no selection) exports the active catalogue for that publisher. Export Selected exports only the ticked rows.
Partner delivery of a standing ONIX file is still ONIX Feeds → Outbound. Shop files are on store collections.
